Late February (Tribute to Harold Budd)

about

Harold Budd (May 24, 1936 – December 8, 2020) was an American avant-garde composer and poet. Born in Los Angeles and raised in the Mojave Desert, Budd became a respected composer in the minimalist and avant-garde scene of Southern California in the late 1960s, and later became better known for his work with figures such as Brian Eno.

When I heard "The Plateaux Of Mirrors" (1980) for the first time, I immediately felt in love with the musical aesthetics of Harold Budd.
From then on, Budd's music had a strong influence in my life not only as a musician, but also enriching my life as a human being.

Budd developed what he called a "soft pedal" technique for playing piano which I've tried to emulate in this piece.

Technically, the piece was built superimposing two loops of different lengths.

This piece was first released for the "Loopers Delight Compilation" year 2021.
